What is GSMA SGP.22?

SGP.22 is the GSMA technical specification for Remote SIM Provisioning for consumer devices. It defines protocols for eSIM profile download, management, and security.

What is an eUICC?

eUICC (embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card) is the secure element chip in your device that stores eSIM profiles. It contains a Java Card OS and cryptographic keys.

How does eSIM provisioning work?

QR code scan triggers LPA to contact SM-DP+ server. Mutual PKI authentication occurs. Encrypted profile downloads. eUICC installs profile in secure storage. Device registers on network.

Is eSIM more secure than physical SIM?

Yes. Profiles are cryptographically bound to specific eUICC chips. SIM-swapping requires authentication through provider infrastructure rather than simple physical access.
